Puppies! Puppies! Puppies!

Cappa’s Kennel is proud to announce a new service for 2014. Gail will provide in-house, “foundation” training for your newest family member. Your puppy will live in Gail’s home and receive her undivided attention. Training will be personalized and tailored to your specific needs and requests. Activities will include socialization (canine and human), house breaking, crate training, familiarity with a leash and collar, basic commands and so much more. Only two puppies will be accepted at a time, so book early. Contact Gail for additional details and pricing.

Did you know…?

We think our new grooming service is so special, we invite you to try it free of charge with your next 7 day stay.* Our shampoos, clips and cuts will relax even the “squirmiest” pooch. With specialty products formulated for professional use, our baths are guaranteed to make your dog feel his or her best when done. Keep in mind, too, that our grooming services are performed by a certified professional and graduate of the Thompson School of Applied Science at UNH.  As always, all kennel activities take place under Gail’s watchful eye.

“Cappa’s Corner”

Two litters are on their way! Both are due in early January, and reservations are now being taken. ContactGail for details. Also, given the season, Gail thought the following tips would be helpful to you and your newest canine family member—

  • Take the time to download free of charge, Ian Dunbar’s BEFORE You Get Your Puppy & AFTER You Get Your Puppy
  •  Remember that socialization includes dogs, people and places. It is an on-going process that involves allowing your puppy to explore “his sensory and social world at his/her own pace.”
  • Before attending any puppy class, observe a session without your dog.
  • Puppy classes should be structured and not a chaotic free for all.
  • A good puppy class should be supervised by a professional and provide an opportunity for your pup to  “learn bite inhibition and how to play appropriately with others.”
  • Consider socializing your pup with calm, stable dogs of different ages. There’s a great deal to be gained from “hanging out” with upperclassmen.
